

Liat Lavi, PhD, LLb
Dr. Liat Lavi is a researcher and writer working in philosophy of Artificial Intelligence, policy, art and design. Liat is a senior lecturer at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, where she was head of the masters program in visual communication (2019-23). She was a visiting research fellow at University College of London's (UCL) Institute of Advanced Studies (Fall 23-24) and previously served as CEO of the Shpilman Institute for Photography (2014-16). Liat holds bachelor degrees in law and economics (TAU) and in art (Bezalel), and masters (summa cum laude) and PhD degrees in hermeneutics and cultural studies (BIU). Her PhD thesis focused on 20th century philosophy, bringing together pragmatism and phenomenology. Since completing her PhD in 2014, her research focuses on the metaphysics and ethics of artificial intelligence.
